This is an exciting new feature on our blog to assist brides with making the most of their wedding day plans. There are so many topics to cover that we are going to feature a new subject once a week on Wednesdays. The topics will be archived under the heading Wednesday Wedding Planner, so after several weeks there will be lots of content for new viewers to go back and review. We also plan to feature information from guest bloggers from time to time to offer more points of interest.
 
Jeff and I believe that many of the choices you make in planning your wedding have a huge impact in how your wedding photographs turn out. So our advice is, for the most part, going to be from a photographers point of view to help make your photographs a great success.  We encourage your comments and questions on our posts and of course if you ever think of a topic you’d like to see covered, just speak up!  

This week’s subject comes from a conversation we had with a potential bride this past weekend at a wedding.  “How far in advance should I book my photographer?”   The bride has been engaged for a few months but isn’t planning to get married until May of next year. She is just starting to look at booking her vendors because she has been waiting for the “one year mark”.  Unfortunately, we have already booked the date that she originally wanted.  As a matter of fact, it isn’t uncommon for us to book dates 18 to 24 months in advance.  My advice on this is to book your photographer and venue as soon as you decide on your date. These are two vendors that usually cannot accommodate more than one event per day.  Granted, there are photographers who will shoot (or attempt to shoot) more than one wedding on the same day.  Now Jeff and I consider ourselves young, talented photographers with tons of energy and vigor to put into your wedding photography, but the idea of shooting more than one wedding in 24 hours makes me ache from head to toe.  My point is, we will not stretch ourselves and risk limiting one bride’s coverage to be able to shoot two in the same day.
My planning advice:  It’s never too early to get your preferred vendors reserved for your wedding date. ~Julie.
