August, 2008

Congratulations to Deepak and Susan Kumar

We were notified yesterday that Deepak and Susan’s gorgeous wedding has been featured on the Southern Weddings Magazine’s website. Read what the editors had to say about the attention to detail given at this grand event. Also make sure to read the comments area to see what other readers are saying. I remember how Julie and I were completely blown away when we arrived that day. We had a field day documenting all of the gorgeous details and beautiful people. Congratulations again Susan and Deepak. We wish you two the very best!

Jessicas Senior Portrait Session

Jessica is a senior this year at Open Bible Christian School. She came in for an indoor / outdoor studio session last week. We really enjoyed getting to know Jessica and hearing about her cheerleading activities. She has the most beautiful blue eyes to go along with her great personality. We hope you enjoy your senior year at OBCS Jessica!

Rainy Days

WWPWell it looks like the tropical storm has settled in for a few days to drop tons of water on this weekend’s weddings. Fortunately ours is an indoor wedding, and our bride has the best personality. I’m sure she won’t let the weather put a damper on her day!  We can always look on the bright side – There’s an old wives tale that says rain on your wedding day makes you fertile!!
The rainy weather brings me to my Wednesday Wedding Planner subject for this week.  If you are planning an outdoor wedding, make sure you have an alternate plan in case of bad weather. I believe it was hurricane season last year that we had a wedding scheduled in Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia. I was just as excited as the bride about getting to shoot in this infamous park. Well, I believe his name was Tropical Storm Barry that halted all our dreams.  Boy was he nasty. It rained and the wind blew and the umbrellas flipped inside out. I think you get the picture. The wedding ceremony got pushed into the mansion next to the park – which wasn’t a bad thing, but the point is there was an alternate plan.
If you are dreaming of a perfect outdoor wedding, and have put months of planning into every detail, don’t leave the fate of the success of your day in the hands of mother nature. You just might be sorely disappointed. There is no reason you can’t plan for rain and then be ecstatic that it is in fact a beautiful sunny day. Most of the time, venues have indoor areas as a rainy-day option. If not, I would suggest that you go ahead and reserve an alternate location as a back-up.
I absolutely adore outdoor weddings and love the benefit of natural light for shooting. As a matter of fact, Jeff and I would like to be the first to encourage you to “go for it”!  ~ Happy Wedding Planning, Julie.

Krista and Andrew

Check out this engagement session we shot last week. Krista and Andrew are a fabulous couple getting married here in Valdosta later this year. They are in every sense of the words -natural models. Well, actually, I think they just have so much chemistry and passion, they can’t keep their hands off each other. I really look forward to their wedding day and seeing how they interact with one another and my camera.
