Kellie Day and Nick Willis | Jeckyll Island Wedding

Kellie and Nick’s elegant wedding was held at the gorgeous Jekyll Island Club Hotel, Jekyll Island Georgia. They had a late morning ceremony in Faith Chapel, followed by a brunch reception in the Club Ballroom. The resort was an ideal location for a couple like Kellie and Nick who love the ocean and beaches but wanted a more traditional church ceremony.  There are so many fabulous areas on the resort for shooting. Kellie made sure to allow the time needed for us to be able to take advantage of all these ideal locations.

Julie and I certainly enjoyed the trip. It gave us an opportunity to relax on the island the night before and enjoy crab legs and shrimp at The “Rah” Bar as we watched the sunset over the bay.

We’ve included their slide show in this post to show more of the images and allow you to get an idea of how the day unfolded.

Here is a sweet email Kellie sent the day after she saw her pictures:

Julie and Jeff,
How do I even begin to tell you how WONDERFUL the pictures are??? Every single image is unbelievable…truly worth the wait!
I love the slide show; the music is perfect! I just cried watching the images…it brought back so many memories from our wedding day; I wish we could do it again!  From getting ready, seeing each other for the first time, the wedding ceremony, the reception, the first dance, my dance with daddy, and beyond…the images taken by you are truly a gift to me, Nick and our friends and family to cherish for many, many years. I don’t know how we will ever decide on what pictures to keep/eliminate, etc. Guess I’m going to start looking for a second job to pay for pictures!!!
Thanks again…I look forward to speaking with you and seeing you both in the near future. Again, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to use you and your talent to preserve memories from the most important day in our life.
-Kellie Day Willis

Each time I see any of your work, you can see there is more to making a wedding than just being a “Picture Tooker” at the wedding. Professional Photographers aren’t doing a good job of pointing this out to the brides-to-be. With your work and coverage, you’ll never have an un-happy bride!!!!!! I have had a wedding at this location. Your coverage is the best I have ever seen of this type location.

WOW. What a great complement Robert. Thank you so much. Julie and I always pour everything we’ve got into a wedding no matter where we are or who we are working with. It is always great when the couple you are working for puts as much energy and effort into the day as you do. Kellie and Nick are the kind of bride and groom that make you want to do even more for them. They were on time even though it was a morning wedding and ready to take pictures at the time we recommended. This just makes everything go smooth and allows us to be creative. They were also willing to do just about anything to get great images. And then, add a beautiful location such as Jekyll Island, and you have a perfect day and get to take home some great images. Thanks again Robert!

It’s so exciting to see how things have changed over the years. Even the way a wedding is photographed. You all do a good job capturing the fun & excitement of this once in a lifetime event! I WISH my wedding album looked like the ones you create!

I absolutely adore Jekyll. I grew up going there every summer, so it holds a special place in my heart! These images are absolutely gorgeous! The bride and groom look so incredibly happy. The pictures are absolutely incredible!

Outdoor Summer Portrait Sessions

Here are a few more samples from some of the outdoor child portrait sessions we’ve done lately. All of these sessions were shot at our outdoor studio except for the twins in overalls. We did those on location at the DeLoach farm in Nashville, Georgia. Make sure to brag on any of these beautiful children using the comments area below. We always love to here what everyone has to say. Also, if there is something you would like to see here on the blog, just let us know and we will make it happen.

No Gas Required

I want one of these! Can’t you just see us pulling up to your wedding in one of these babies. We would be the talk of the town. Probably because we would always be late since it tops out at 25mph. But we could probably give you a discount if you didn’t mind us being late. After all there wouldn’t be any fuel cost involved.

This is a shot of Kellie Day and Nick Willis arriving in style at their reception at the Jekyll Island Club. These cars are rented by the hour or day and can be seen zooming all around the island. We didn’t get to drive one, but maybe Kellie, Nick, or some of the others from the wedding who drove them can tell us how they handle. Starting price is around $7000.00.

When they get these cars up to about 85 mph, we will be first in line to get one. Just kidding. It would be really nice to have one of these around now to go short distances. I think they are good for about 30 miles on a charge.

You can read more on their website at www.gemcar.com. Apparently, you can get them in two, four, and six seater’s with different styles and colors.

Oil Painting of our daughter Halle

Below is a painting my brother Richard did a while back of our youngest daughter Halle. He changed the background along with a few other things and we just love it. We have it hanging by a portrait Richard painted of Julie the year we were married. Julie actually did a sitting for Richard at the time of her painting. I believe he started with a charcoal drawing and then did the oil on canvas after that. Halle’s painting on the other hand was done entirely from a photographic image we took of her in the studio. We had the image printed at our lab and sent it to Richard for likeness as he painted.

Richard is a very talented artist and represents some of the very best contemporary masters such as Allan R. Banks, Steven J. Levin, Stephen Gjertson, Richard Lack, Paul S. Brown, Marlin Adams and many more. If you love contemporary realist art you should visit his online art gallery at www.gandygallery.com.

Thanks again Richard for doing this for us. We will always cherish this beautiful painting of Halle.

Non-Saturday Weddings

WWP While Saturdays tend to be the traditional day for weddings, at least here in the south, brides are starting to consider other days of the week to tie the knot. Other common days we are starting to see are Fridays and Sundays. Since there are only 4-5 Saturdays in a month, vendors and venues tend to book up very quickly for Saturday weddings.
Here are a few things to consider when choosing a non-traditional day.  Friday evening weddings do offer the bride and groom more travel time for the honeymoon. Sunday weddings are great for allowing the couple to spend more time with their out of town guests who get to come in for the weekend. And finally, some vendors offer discounted rates on wedding services. – Happy Wedding Planning, Julie.
