Gandy Photographers featured in Rangefinder Magazine

p1 We were thrilled this week when we opened our copy of Rangefinder Magazine and got to read an article about us!  Although we have known about this since we were interviewed last year by CharMaine Beleele, it was still very exciting to finally see it in print.

When we initially found out we were going to be featured in one of the best photography magazines out there, it made us really nervous. Julie and I said to each other, “what do we have to offer the photographic community?” What we decided, was to just tell our story in hopes of inspiring others who want to make a career change as we did. Since the publication’s release just a few days ago we have already received numerous emails and contacts from others that share the same dream of becoming professional photographers. It always makes us happy to know that we have helped some one else if even in such a small way. We are very greatful to Rangefinder and all of the other photographers who have inspired us over the years.

The Swingin Medallions

Here are few images of the Swingin Medallions from Leigh Ann & Cole’s wedding. Getting to see this band is one of the perks of being a wedding photographer. I enjoyed watching an older gentlemen stand about 10 feet away from the stage. He just stood there drinking a glass of wine and watched in amazement just about all night. As for everyone else… well, you can just say, they didn’t stand in one place very long. These guys are from Greenwood, South Carolina, but they travel to our area all the time. So if you are looking for an outstanding band and want to make us very happy check out their website and book them for your wedding. We will post more images of Leigh Ann & Cole’s wedding over the next few days. We just uploaded their wedding about an hour ago and want them to be able to see the images first. Jeff.

Before and After

I’ve never posted a before & after image on the blog before so here’s my first. During a recent wedding, I tried every angle I could to shoot these two beautiful little girls without the table and chairs in the background. Short of moving things around it just was not going to happen. They were also unaware that I was taking their picture and I didn’t want them to change a thing. So I shot the picture and have just finished changing it around a bit. Most photographers know that corrections such as this can be time consuming so it’s always better to get it right in the camera. This was just a case of being unable to get just what I wanted in camera. Please feel free comment and give suggestions for making this image even better. I will be publishing this wedding in the next day or two so check back soon. This image was shot at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida.

Jeff Fountain — Jeff, Wow...that is great work...you have amazing talent. What a beautiful photo. Fascinating, what you are able to do with that picture. Take Care.   ( March 20, 2008 @ 7:30 am )

Cathy Harrison — This is priceless!!! Great Job!!!!\ Cathy I love the way they did the tables.   ( March 21, 2008 @ 6:51 am )

Richard Gandy — Excellent work removing the table in the background behind the little girl on the right. You're right, it takes time to do something like that, especially when hair is involved. Beautiful color. Suggestions -- I notice you adjusted the horizon. I wonder if it might not be a little better if the table top and water horizon line were level. On one hand, it does give character, and you know I'm a big fan of putting tilt on an image. In this case, it might look better though to make the horizon level. Looks like there's a shadow on the grass where the table on the left side was removed. Use a layer to lighten it up to match the surrounding grass value.   ( March 21, 2008 @ 7:45 pm )

sheila — Can you get any better? Looks good to me!   ( March 25, 2008 @ 9:23 am )

Spring Portraits

We are currently working to make our outdoor studio look awesome for this years spring portraits. We started yesterday and should be finished by the end of this week. Our current customers and members of our Watch-Me-Grow program fill the slots quickly for these outdoor portrait sessions. If you are already one of our customers and have not already booked a session, just give us a call as soon as you decide when you want to do your portraits. As always, you come first.

Here are just a few portraits that we took at our studio from spring 2007. We look forward to 2008 being the best year yet. Check back in the next few weeks to see what we are coming up with. I think you will like what you see! Jeff.
